White on White Farmhouse, Revisited

This white on white farmhouse is fabulous:
Even the chickens seem to approve of their humans' white on white coop.

This is the photo that made me do it. I am choosing to paint my own cottage white on white too. It is so classic.

It is perfect inside too.

You can't have too many window seats, can you?

A delightful child's room with wonderful built-in cupboards on either side of the bed and window. The room of sweet dreams, for sure.

The Mole Spring Cleaning

Illustration by Inga Moore from Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame via

The Mole had been working very hard all the morning, spring-cleaning his little home. First with brooms, then with dusters; then on ladders and steps and chairs, with a brush and a pail of whitewash; till he had dust in his throat and eyes, and splashes of whitewash all over his black fur, and an aching back and weary arms. Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, penetrating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing. It was small wonder, then, that he suddenly flung down his brush on the floor, said `Bother!' and `O blow!' and also `Hang spring-cleaning!' and bolted out of the house without even waiting to put on his coat. The Reading Room

I would have to sit in this unusual chair first before giving it my leal of approval. I would probably trade it for a comfy armchair and ottoman. via Amanda Patterson

Door Within A Big Window

Oh, how I love this. If only such architectural elements were easy to find, but they are not. It looks as if someone's going on a trip or running away from home, doesn't it? via

South Carolina barrier island home designed by Herlong and Associates.
I love the floating ceiling detail in this fabulous kitchen. It defines the open space without the addition of walls. via

A Table with a View

I love this table in front of the window and the symmetry of the whole arrangement. The botanical print draperies are lovely too. via

Fabulous Vintage Bathroom

It's perfect. I wouldn't change one thing! via

Secret Window

Bifold raised-panel shutters not only make a handsome frame for the window, as in this Georgian-era library, but they also help keep drafts at bay. If you look closely, you will see the hinges for the bottom shutters. When they are open the room must be twice as wonderful with such a large window to frame the view and let in more natural light. via

Super Duper Kitchen Detail

I love the wooden over-mounted counter top with the drainboard ridges on one side. The sink is amazing with the side pocket for the stopper and overflow drain. The wide windowsill that extends all the way to the wall on both sides is a nice feature and the cutout curve for the faucet is an interesting touch. I've always wanted a plate rack in old paint too. The cool weather is still here, it's only 64° at 3:30 pm. Mother Nature is showing off again after trying to melt us last week. There is no happy medium these days, is there? It's broil or shiver. Photo found here.

Beautiful Bedroom

Beautiful in its simplicity. I love it all. I worked outside today so I'll be tucking in early. So happy about the birth of the Prince of Cambridge. via

A Sophisticated Loft

I adore this arrangement and everything in this room designed by Michael Penney. Photography by Donna Griffith; House and Home January 2010.

The weather at the cottage cooled down enough for me to open my bedroom windows before I went to sleep. I'm sitting in the living room with my first cup of coffee with fresh air and I'm so happy. See you later.
