BROADCHURCH tonight, Episode 3

View a trailer for tonight's episode 3 here. Thankfully I have FiOS and can watch this BBC America series "on demand" whenever the mood strikes me. I watched Episode 2 again this morning and saw things I missed when I watched it "live" last Wednesday at 10pm. That's not my finest hour and sometimes I find myself dozing off. I look forward to this weekly series because the acting is so good and the story is fascinating. In other words, I'm hooked.

Follow Up on ENDEAVOUR on PBS Masterpiece Mystery

Shaun Evans is Endeavour Morse,
a detective fond of puzzles and poetry.
Did you watch last night? I did and I kept falling asleep. I want to watch again to see if it was because it seemed slow and complicated or because I was tired. I emailed a friend in Massachusetts and she felt the same way even though we both loved the Pilot.

I found a great review in The New York Times. Here's part of it . . . "those who watch mysteries for the mystery — may lose patience as the episode’s overly complicated plot, involving a dead secretary, a doctor murdered in a public restroom, a series of post office robberies and a love child, is resolved haphazardly and implausibly." Now I feel better and I'll stick with the series even if I have to find a review the next day to explain it to me.

I missed out on DCI Banks when it first started so I plan to watch Season I online. I've seen bits and pieces of it when I was switching channels and it looks good too. Thank you, New York Times!

Endeavour Returns to PBS Tonight

I'm so excited that ENDEAVOUR is returning as a July series on PBS beginning tonight. The pilot premiered in 2012 and is still available to watch online here. If you can spare an hour/+22 minutes before tonight, you should watch it and fall in love with the young Inspector MORSE on his first days on the job in 1960s OXFORD. I promise you will love it too. Check your local listings for tonight's time and channel in your area. It's on at 9pm here at the cottage. Can't wait!!!!!!!! I watched the pilot again last night and I'm so glad I did. Let me know if you watch. You're welcome.

Cast Iron Frog in My Garden

I took this photo early one morning last week. Ribbit. He's a big old one and I love him. I got up before the cat for some reason this morning and decided to start watching PBS Masterpiece recorded from Sunday night. I love Inspector Lewis Mysteries and this episode is the  beginning of Season VI. Here is a review from Forbes Magazine. See you later.

1902 Bookplate Ex Libris Robert Hall

Bookplate, 1902. Robert Hall, an avid collector of Kemscott Press books. via

On the library table are Kelmscott works, including William Morris’s The Glittering Plain and his 1895 translation of Beowulf. All the books are clearly bound in the distinctive Kelmscott full limp vellum tied with silk ribbons. The Wood Beyond the World is open to show a Morris-designed woodcut border and frontispiece. Leaning against the bookcase is a copy of the 1896 edition of Chaucer. Click here to see this wonderful bookplate enlarged.

Have a great long weekend. I'm anxiously awaiting the next episode of Orphan Black on BBC America. I missed the first 6 episodes and had to watch them online. When I was up to date I began watching on Saturday nights at 9pm. This will be my third week of watching on the TV set. It is really GOOD. It has been renewed for a second season too. Will you be watching?

Sunset with Shells

I had a productive day in the office and outside spreading wood chips. The bed is going to feel mighty good in a few minutes. I'm all set for a great evening watching Call The Midwife,  the last episode of Bletchley Circle, Mad Men, and I can't remember what else. My DVR is whirring away recording so many great programs to keep me entertained. I watched a wonderful movie last night on ShowTime -- Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. I saved it so I can watch it again...something I rarely do. It was THAT good. Now off to bed. image source

Bletchley Circle, Episode 2 Tonight

Don't forget to watch Episode 2 Tonight
I love this feminist murder mystery. I just learned there are only 3 episodes in the miniseries (sad face). I'm off to the bedroom to watch The Good Wife beforehand. Here is a good review of all the great television on Sunday nights. Enjoy.

Watch the First Episode of Bletchley Circle Online @ PBS

I was able to stay awake to watch the first episode of this new mini-series and it was WONDERFUL. If you missed it, you can check your local PBS station to see when it will be rebroadcast or watch it online HERE.
The behind-the-scenes short at the end of Episode 1 was very interesting too. These 4 leading ladies were perfect in their roles. Promise me you will watch Bletchley Circle. Don't you love PBS?

Crime-solving quartet premiers tonight on PBS in 'Bletchley Circle'

BLETCHLEY CIRCLE
A new miniseries premiers tonight on PBS @ 10pm in my area. Set in Britain in 1952, this review says it's supposed to be smart and highly suspenseful. I have already set my DVR. When the sisterhood of four detectives gets together to discuss a case, it is under the cover of a book club. I like it already!!!

Beautiful Bedroom

This is lovely and very soothing. Very sleep inducing, isn't it? via Do you think there is a TV that pops up from that trunk at the foot of the bed? My guess is YES, so it's perfect for me! I can't go to sleep unless I watch TV first. I hope I can stay awake for Mad Men tonight. Sleep tight when you tuck in.
